These are the fundamental questions being asked by a research group called ‘Boundaries of Life’.
The Boundaries of Life Initiative is answering fundamental questions about the diversity of life and the various forms it could take — many of which may not yet be recognized.
In 2017 I partnered with this group to investigate how their research might inform different approaches to sound and music making. As part of this research I undertook a self directed residency at the Melbourne Electronic Sound Studio (M.E.S.S).
During the residency I created the score for a short documentary which featured the scientists involved in the project.
