“There’s something wonderfully consistent about Prudence’s work. She has a really unique way of looking at eras and breathing new light in them… [it] is a total delight – every element is patient, contributing to a long form gems that weaves together gorgeously.”
Hello! Thank you for visiting my website. I am a composer who draws on sounds from across the spectrum of popular and obscure music to create work which sits at the intersection of pop, classical and experimental traditions. Over the past 15 years I have made music with computers, orchestras, analog tape machines, modular synths, incredible sessions musicians, theatre makers, scientists, friends and bandmates.
My practice has expanded beyond song craft to include works of experimental theatre (notably with international award-winning company Four Larks), as well as partnerships with scientists at NASA — investigating ways their research can inform new approaches to sound. I co-founded Schema47, and produced a series of salons which catalyzed numerous partnerships between scientists and artists, and Sound Travels, a remote hire platform for musicians, in response to Covid-19.
From 2023 – 2025 I worked in the senior management team at MESS (Melbourne Electronic Sound Studio). During my time there I transitioned the membership system to a monthly subscription model, ran a semi regular meet up called Synth Cafe, created a bookable online catalog of the collection, and provided strategic insights regarding the memberships and engagement.
I am currently completing a PhD in the school of design at RMIT. My research focus is on music and utopias, which you can learn more about here.
I currently live in Melbourne/Naarm Australia, and previously lived in the US from 2014 – 2022, spending most of my time in Los Angeles and upstate New York.
